Below is an excerpt from my youth sports novel, The Unbelievable Point Guard, which you can pick up on Amazon:
Clifton glanced at the clock on the scorer's table. 21 seconds. Coach Watson jumped up and yelled, “Yellow!” …the signal for a trap. Bobby left his man free and flew over to try to pin Tommy in. Both Bobby and Clifton converged at the same time, hands up, going for the ball. It worked. Tommy panicked and tried to make a jump-pass, but Clifton got a hand on it. Bobby flew down the court in perfect anticipation and Clifton hustled to retrieve the ball. He snatched it from a diving Layton player and heaved a baseball pass. Bobby waited for the ball to arrive, then laid it up and in. Coach Watson immediately called timeout. 13 seconds remained and the Titans were down by just one. "GREAT PLAY, BOYS!" Coach Watson shouted as the team went into their huddle. A reader recently said, "I loved it! So sweet and it made me love my own dog even more!"

“Well, it’s just that last play of the game, when Chase didn’t throw home,” Eddie told her. “We had him out, and I could have had my second shutout!”
“Well, the team won, isn’t that what’s important?” his mom asked. “Yeah, it is. I just wish I knew why he didn’t throw home.” That night at dinner the subject came up again. Eddie’s dad, Dave Thompson had been at the game, but gone back to work right afterward. Dave Thompson was a serious looking man with a medium build and coarse brown hair. He had a way of looking at you sometimes like he knew what you were thinking. Now at dinner, he was talking to Eddie about the game. “So how does it feel to be 4-0.” “I’m 2-0 dad,” Eddie replied. “I was talking about the team,” Eddie’s dad said looking sternly at him. Eddie brightened up. “You know, if we win on Wednesday, and the Sharks win, when we play next Saturday, we’ll both be 5-0! And I’ll pitch that one!” “Does that make you nervous?” Dave Thompson asked his son teasingly. “No!” Eddie shot back. “They’re the ones that should be nervous!” When He first brought me Home, I was naughty. I would accidentally go potty inside The Big House and He would say, “Aaargh! No! Get out in the yard!”, grab me by the thing around my neck, show me what I did, and then open the slide door and put me outside. He would say, “Go potty! Outside! Yard!” He would point at the grass with His finger. “Potty. Grass!” Because I was little and not very smart, I didn’t understand what He meant, and I would just look at Him and bow my head. I learned that when I did that, it would make His face go from mad to something not mad. Then He would let me back in the house. This was a very useful trick that I used often when I was a puppy still figuring everything out.
If you haven't picked up a copy of my novel, Him, you should! Below is a review it received recently.
Because the story is told from the perspective of a dog, there are parts that I had to really think about to understand but I liked that challenge, and the story was wonderful. I didn't want it to end. I love this review of Him: This book was wonderful! It made me really think of life from a dog's perspective. I will never look at dogs the same, in a good way! Highly recommend.
